Task Force: Mid-State Regional Meeting

This month we are meeting from 10:00-12:00 at SUNY Cortland Friday, April 25th. The meeting will in Van Hoesen B111. This conference room is on the first (middle) floor of Van Hoesen just across from the elevator, about midway on the first floor.

There is pay parking lot across from Van Hoesen Hall on Neubig Road, adjacent to the cemetery, but there is a lot of construction between the parking lot and Van Hoesen so you will have to enter from one end or the other to get into Van Hoesen. It is the building just down the hill from the Memorial Library and just up the hill from Corey Union. The Van Hoesen sign has been removed because of the construction. From Syracuse and points north

Take Interstate 81 south to Cortland Exit 11.
Turn right off the exit ramp onto Clinton Avenue Extension.
At the second traffic light take a right on Clinton Avenue/Route 13.
Drive approximately one mile, get into the center lane and make a left-hand turn at the light onto Church Street.
From Church Street make a right-hand turn onto West Court Street.
Take West Court Street to the top of the hill and make a left-hand turn onto Graham Avenue.
At the first stop sign make a right-hand turn onto Prospect Terrace, which eventually turns into Neubig Road as you drive down the hill.
Corey Union is located at the bottom of the hill on the right-hand side.
Parking can sometimes be found on the street, but the paid lot on the left adjacent to the cemetery more often has spaces available.

From Ithaca and points southwest
Take Route 13 north to Route 281 north (in Cortland), which begins at approximately the A&W Restaurant (on left-hand side). Stay straight on Route 281 instead of bearing right on Route 13 when approaching the A&W.
Take Route 281 north for approximately one and a half miles to Route 222/Groton Avenue (first light after Tops Supermarket).
Take a right-hand turn onto Route 222/Groton Avenue.
Proceed approximately one and a half miles to the second traffic light.
Take a right-hand turn onto Graham Avenue.
At the first stop sign make a right-hand turn onto Prospect Terrace, which eventually turns into Neubig Road as you drive down the hill.

Here are some highlights of our upcoming meeting:

We'll be looking at the RSS information on NCLB 06-07 data described in Step 3 of our Pilot Plan and we'll also be doing some preparatory discussion of the Summer Symposium in combination with the SETRC meeting as well as Step 4 in our Pilot Plan.

At this meeting we will also have four visitors from Ithaca City School District. Sheila McEnery, Director of Special Education, Michael Friga, Coordinator of the Special Education Training Center at TST BOCES, Joe Wilson, Ithaca High School Principal and Jim Scarpulla, Transition Coordinator to discuss their process of the Focus Review and initiatives.
